Advice and Information

Somali asylum seekers and refugees have shown a great deal of resourcefulness in being able to reach Britain but they still face many barriers to integration upon arrival in the UK. Language barriers, poor housing, high employment, lack of childcare provision, difficulty in finding and accessing mainstream services including welfare benefits and health- these are the challenges facing the Somali community in London. Many are unaware of their rights and ISC offers support with advice, information signpost and referrals to specialist agencies.

Each year ISC deals with over 3,000 cases with very limited staff and volunteers.
