Islington Somali Community (ISC) is the main organisation working with Somalis of all ages in Islington and neighbouring London boroughs. Our aim is to improve the wellbeing of the Somali population and to work towards the full integration of refugees in the local community.
Much of our work focuses on providing advice and information about housing, education, employment, health and other essential services.
ISC delivers practical projects including elderly befriending and outreach work. A key strand of work is Islington Links - an innovative youthwork project engaging young people at risk of involvement in crime and drugs. ISC also has a Crisis Intervention Worker who provides emotional and psychological support to those coming from or facing challenging situations.
Throughout the year ISC organises cultural events, mother tongue classes, outings for children and adults, interpreting and translation services.
